Pomerania itineraries: one day to two weeks, planned honestly

6 plans · every entry links to the nearest hotels

These plans are built the way locals would build them: around the railway, the seasons and the truth that you cannot do everything. Each one names its base areas — sleep in fewer places, day-trip more — and links straight to live hotel prices for every stop.

The golden rules baked in: never drive onto the Hel peninsula on a summer weekend; give the dunes a dawn, not a noon; treat September as a first-choice month, not a fallback; and always sleep at least one night wherever you'd otherwise day-trip — evenings are when the coast is at its best.

01
24 hours in Gdańsk 1 day · base: Old Town

St Mary's tower at opening, the Crane and Maritime Museum, Mariacka at dusk, smoked fish on the Motława. One perfect day, timed to dodge the coach groups.

02
The Tricity weekend 2–3 days · base: Wrzeszcz or Sopot

Day one Gdańsk's Hanseatic core; day two Sopot pier morning, Gdynia modernism and Orłowo cliff sunset — all by SKM, no car, one hotel.

03
Castle & coast 4 days · Gdańsk + Malbork

Two Tricity days, an overnight at Malbork for the floodlit walls and empty morning courtyards, then a Stogi or Sopot beach day to land it.

04
The full coast week 7 days · 3 bases

Tricity (3 nights) → Hel peninsula by train (2, Jastarnia) → Łeba for the dunes (2). Beaches on both waters, one dawn in the sand desert, zero traffic jams.

05
Lakes & forest week 7 days · Kashubia + south

Kartuzy/Chmielno farm base (4 nights: kayaks, Wieżyca, strawberry season) then Charzykowy (3: sailing, Tuchola pines, Brda paddling). Pomerania with no salt in it.

06
The grand tour 14 days · end to end

Gdańsk (3) → Malbork (1) → Vistula Spit (2, Krynica) → Hel peninsula (2) → Łeba (2) → Ustka (2) → Słupsk/Bytów castle night (1) → Kashubia (1). The whole voivodeship, mostly by rail.

Good to know

How many bases is right for a week?
Three maximum. Pomerania rewards slow bases with day trips — checkout-repack-checkin days are how holidays evaporate.
Can the grand tour really run on trains?
All but two legs (the Spit, and Bytów) — cover those with buses or a one-day car hire from Słupsk. Everything else is rail-native.
Ready for a bed?
